Why Seeing Art in the Studio Changes Everything

There is a difference between seeing art and experiencing it.

In a gallery, a piece is complete. Resolved. Presented.
In a studio, it is alive.

This season, several artists connected to The Curated Life are participating in the Calgary Artist Studio Tour, opening their spaces and inviting you into the places where their work begins.

Studios hold a different kind of energy. You see the materials before they become something else. You notice the small decisions, the shifts, the imperfections that never make it into a final piece but shape it completely.

You begin to understand that art is not just something you acquire. It is something that evolves.

“You notice the small decisions, the shifts…”

How to Experience the Tour

The tour is now available through the Toureka App, where you can explore participating artists, save your favourites, and create your own self-guided route.

It allows you to move intuitively through the city, discovering studios and shared creative spaces at your own pace.

In addition to studio visits, several artists are also participating in local group shows over the weekends, offering another way to experience the work in a more collective setting.

“…we believe in living with art, not just displaying it.”

At The Curated Life, we believe in living with art, not just displaying it. Experiences like this bring you closer to that idea.

They slow you down. They ask you to look differently. They invite you into a more personal relationship with what you bring into your space.

If you have the opportunity, we encourage you to explore, take your time, and let the experience unfold naturally.

Art changes when you meet it where it’s made.

Meet Patricia

Curator. Artist. Holistic living advocate.

I created The Curated Life as a sanctuary for intentional living. Where art, design, wellness, and soulful practices meet. With roots in both natural health and creative expression, my work is about curating not just spaces, but lives that feel deeply aligned.

Here, I share reflections, rituals, and creations that speak to the heart and heal the spirit.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about resonance.
Welcome home.

But this year, I’m beginning differently.
Not with a list.
Not with urgency.
But with a quiet return to self.
