The Sacred Home: A Spring Cleaning Guide the Curated Life Way

Spring isn’t just a season, it’s a soft invitation to begin again. To open the windows, shake out the dust, and make space for something new to take root. If you’re like me, the urge to clear and clean hits hard this time of year. After months (or years, let’s be honest) of accumulation, clutter, and life happening at full speed, the mess starts to weigh on the spirit.

I’ve been in the thick of it lately. Going drawer by drawer, room by room. Reclaiming the space around me so I can breathe again. I don’t do it all at once. I don’t even try. That’s the secret. Start with one drawer. One corner. One sacred space. Let the momentum build naturally.

“Start with your sanctuary. For me, that’s always the bedroom.

Start with Your Sanctuary

For me, that’s always the bedroom. If the rest of the house is upside down (and it often is when you live with a husband and grown-ish kids), at least I have that one place to retreat to. That one room that isn’t screaming for my attention. That matters more than we give it credit for.

Get Rid of Stuff (Really.)

Let’s talk about the emotional weight of things. Clothes I swear I’ll wear again. Almost-empty bottles of creams I meant to finish. Random objects I kept “just in case.” Sound familiar? It adds up. Physically and energetically.

Let. It. Go.

If it doesn’t fit, doesn’t serve, or doesn’t spark joy, it’s time to say goodbye. Fashion cycles don’t return exactly the same anyway, and honestly? I want to dress for who I am becoming, not who I used to be.

There’s something about wiping the surfaces, putting away the brushes, and clearing space that instantly inspires me to create again.

Reset the Studio

My art studio is my sacred ground. There’s something about wiping the surfaces, putting away the brushes, and clearing space that instantly inspires me to create again. A clean studio is a blank canvas for the soul. If you’re stuck in a creative rut, clean. Clear. Begin again.

Yes, I was that kid who loved getting fresh notebooks at the start of a school year. Still am, honestly.

The Backyard Battle

This year, our chaos zone is the backyard. Fences, decks, and all the things that have been left too long. Once upon a time, I would’ve tackled it alone. Not anymore. My time is precious. I asked for help.

And guess what? What would’ve taken me all day was done in a few hours with my husband and daughters beside me. If you can delegate or hire help, do it. Your energy is sacred. Spend it where it matters most. Your family, your art, your peace.

Your Home Is a Mirror

The clutter outside often reflects what’s swirling within. That’s why this work matters. You’re not just cleaning a house. You’re making space for joy, calm, and clarity. You’re curating your environment the same way you curate your life. Intentionally.

Don’t rush. Don’t overthink. Just begin.

Don’t rush. Don’t overthink. Just begin.

Curated Life Tips for a Soulful Spring Clean:

  • Pick one space. Honor it. Finish it. Then move on.
  • Create a donation box and fill it unapologetically.
  • Light a candle when you’re done. Mark it as sacred.
  • Ask for help. Whether from family or a local service. It’s an investment in your time and energy.
  • Reward yourself. A clean space deserves a little ritual. Tea, a long bath, or something new that brings joy.

Closing Thought:

This summer is going to fly by, like they always do. So put in the effort now. Clear the clutter. Make space. Curate a home that reflects you. Not the chaos, not the past, but the beautiful, evolving person you are right now.

Because the way we tend to our home… is the way we tend to ourselves.

Meet Patricia

Curator. Artist. Holistic living advocate.

I created The Curated Life as a sanctuary for intentional living. Where art, design, wellness, and soulful practices meet. With roots in both natural health and creative expression, my work is about curating not just spaces, but lives that feel deeply aligned.

Here, I share reflections, rituals, and creations that speak to the heart and heal the spirit.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about resonance.
Welcome home.

Why I Started The Curated Life

I didn’t start The Curated Life last week or even last year.
This brand has been growing quietly in the background of my life since 2021, through one of the hardest chapters I’ve ever faced.
